An odd statue in the gardens of Airfield House, Dundrum. The female figure has large antlers, a snake appearing between her legs and yes that is a door in her belly.

But at least her breasts are exposed. That’s all I ask for in a statue.

That puts me in mind of my first visit to the National Gallery with my brother. Wandering through the gallery and inspecting the art in respectful silence I was mortified to witness The Brother stop, stare open mouthed at a Greco-Roman statue of a nude man and exclaim in a loud voice “Lookit him, he’s doin’ a wee!”
In his defence he was only five at the time. But I was as we say over here ’scarlet’.

And her ladybits too, although you might need to look closely.

I will also add that it appeared her belly had been burgled as one of the little doors was missing. Perhaps the gurriers in Dundrum wished to see if they could get a closer look at her ladybits from the inside.
‘The Belly Burglars of Dundrum’ that’s going in a story somewhere.
