Excuses, Excuses
Hello my darlings,
Excuses, excuses are what I have for you today. It’s been a busy couple of months here at Gurrier Towers, busy in the sense of working hard in exchange for monetary rewards, rather than toiling to produce great works of art. Much as I wish it were the latter, it’s the former that pays the rent. Being self employed means seizing opportunities when they present themselves, often leaving less time to pursue literary ambitions. Those truly dedicated to their art make time of course, but to my chagrin I bend my will to the good work in hopeless fits and starts.
The Twenty-Six books project languishes in the doldrums. I made a good fist of a start, but somewhere along the line, between War and Peace and Pride and Prejudice, I became tangled in other commitments and left it to one side. I am considering a reboot of the project over the Summer. I had grand plans to take part in Scriptfrenzy for the month of June. A ‘write-a-script-in-a-month’ project run by the good folks at Nanowrimo, but again I have not had the brain space to assign to it.
To my constant shame I have neglected Flickr Fiction for many months, again participating on a piecemeal basis. However I have spent some time overhauling the Flickr Fiction concept and I am proud to announce Flickr Fiction has become Ficktion. Using Ning, the roll-your-own social network software, and in concert with my fellow Flickr Fiction participants I have created a central home for Ficktion on the web, here. I hope this site will become a repository for all our Flickr Fiction and a place for everyone to peruse all our work in one place. I will be cross-posting my Flickr Fiction here on the Tales and over on the Ficktion site each week. Please take a minute and have a quick gander at some of my very talented cohorts. If anyone has a hankering to join in, signing up for Ning takes only a few moments and all are welcome.
